Doga, founded in 2002, is preparing its new strategic plan encompassing 2025-2050. This strategic plan will be a collaboration between the members and volunteers, other civil society organisations in Türkiye, scientists, opinion leaders, and international partners. By combining its experience of the near quarter-century with the changing needs of the world, Doga will lay out its new roadmap.
With its new strategic plan, Doga aims to develop long-lasting and permanent solutions in the field of nature conservation. The plan will guide Doga for the next 25 years in its journey to establish a life in tandem with nature and to protect biodiversity.
What is the Process for the Strategic Plan?
Doğa is leading a broad-participation, multi-stage process to develop a long-term strategic plan for safeguarding Turkey’s biodiversity. Designed with the potential global transformations of the next 25 years in mind, this strategy will be crucial in preserving the life support systems that sustain our rapidly changing planet.
Enhancing nature conservation efforts in Turkey with a scientific and strategic approach, while sustaining the harmony between nature and people, are key objectives of this process.
The design of the strategic plan began seven months ago with a comprehensive survey. We engaged numerous stakeholders from our national and international network, including members, volunteers, academics, journalists, legal experts, decision-makers, and opinion leaders. This survey was conducted to analyse existing trends and stakeholder expectations.
As part of the process, in-depth interviews and global analyses are also being carried out. In the final stage, a workshop will be held with the participation of experts and key stakeholders. This workshop will serve as a critical platform for finalising the strategic plan and assessing its feasibility. The plan will be completed based on the workshop outcomes and feedback from stakeholder organisations.
Roadmap for Nature Conservation: Strengthening Priorities and Partnerships!
Doğa Derneği Chairwoman Dicle Tuba Kılıç stated:
“Our organisation’s new strategic plan is of great significance for fostering partnerships in Türkiye to promote a way of life in harmony with nature and to develop innovative solutions. By increasing collaboration, strengthening local and international partnerships, and advancing an approach based on nature’s rights, Doğa aims to continue its efforts.
“The successful implementation of this plan will not rely solely on Doğa’s efforts but will also depend on the collective contribution of local communities, scientists, and everyone who cherishes nature.”
